How Not to Die
By Kim
If you have not read “How Not to Die” I advise you to hop onto Amazon, listen on Audible, run to the nearest bookstore – do whatever necessary to pick up this baby ASAP! This book explains all about how a whole-food, plant-based diet can prevent and reverse many of the causes of disease-related death. Does this mean you have to become vegetarian or vegan? Not at all! Does this mean giving up your favorite deep dish sausage pizza forever? Definitely not! All this means is scaling down your intake of animal products to once a month or reserve it for special occasions. What you eat on the day to day basis is what matters most! Set realistic, achievable goals for yourself- if you know you will not be able to be plant based 100% of the time, aim to start at 75%, increase your consumption of plant based meals you are already eating, or adapt a favorite recipe to be plant based… you can do it!
“Most deaths in the United States are preventable, and they are related to what we eat. Our diet is the number-one cause of premature death and the number-one cause of disability.” – Michael Greger, MD
Among the many golden nuggets of information in Dr. Michael Greger’s book, he includes his “Daily Dozen,” – a checklist of foods and activities to include in our daily routines to live longer, healthier lives. I wanted to incorporate this idea into a dozen blog posts for you! Stay tuned for valuable nutrition facts and fun recipes!!!
