Flaxseeds

Next up on the daily dozen are flaxseeds! Let me tell ya, these little seeds pack a powerful punch!! Recent studies suggest that flaxseed may have a protective effect against breast cancer, colon cancer, and prostate cancer. Flaxseeds have anti-inflammatory effects on the heart, and significant effects on lowering blood pressure. For best results, purchase either pre-ground (“milled”) flax seeds, or grind up the seeds in a blender. Sprinkle this nutty powder on anything you desire… oatmeal, salads, soups, smoothies, baked goods, etc. 

One serving of one tablespoon of ground flaxseed is recommended per day. For only one tablespoon a day, there’s no reason not to eat flax seeds!
