Nuts & Seeds

By Kim

Did you know that not eating enough nuts and seeds is the third leading dietary risk factor for death and disability in the world?! How nuts is that..?!? Nuts and seeds are rich sources of heart-healthy fats, fiber, protein, and essential vitamins and minerals. All these characteristics of nuts and seeds may work together to offer protection against oxidation, inflammation, cancer, and cardiovascular disease.

One serving per day is recommended. So snack on either 1/4 cup of nuts & seeds or two tablespoons of nut or seed butter and you are all set for the day!

Another nutty fact: Walnuts possess the highest antioxidant and omega-3 levels. Studies found that walnuts were associated with preventing cancer deaths. Those who are three or more servings of walnuts per week reduced their risk of dying from cancer in half. AMAZING!!!
